not a tennis fan but I've just watched this
fantastic girl
only 18, 3 months ago she was taking A Levels , she had to go through the qualifying rounds to get into the main draw and she's won the championship without dropping a set

Just seen her being interviewed on BBC news - it's amazing how confident and self-assured she is for 18. Are all kids like that these days? I'm sure I wasn't!

Emma wins Sports Personality of the Year
very pleased for her ........ great achievement and she seems like a lovely girl
I haven't watched the show so I don't know any other winners but I thought Rachael Blackmore might have been on the short list as the first woman to win The Grand National ........ she won the Irish equivalent, Sports Person of the Year, earlier this week
