Just seen that the BBC will show all 61 matches from the Rugby League World Cup which starts Oct 15th

The games will be on BBC TV, Red Button or website and it's a triple world cup with Mens, Women's and Wheelchair championships

I don't follow the week to week club rugby league ...... but I do enjoy getting engrossed into a tournament with games every day and will quite happily watch Samoa v Japan on a Tuesday afternoon whereas I wouldn't bother watching St Helens v Wigan in a Superleague championship decider.

Cynics might say that they play a few dozen matches over 3 weeks then Australia beat either England or New Zealand in the final, depending on how the draw has panned out ....... but I particularly enjoy those games between the little countries along the way to the final. And the women's comp should be fun, I always make a point of watching England's rugby union womens team, they're fantasic, but I don't think I've ever seen the rugby league team

It's evident that we're not a very sporty bunch but anyone interested ?

You're not wrong there I feel!

I'll admit to not being interested in sport at all really, other than the occasional cycling event. Obviously (from my posts!) I like the Tour de France, and I also enjoy some road races from the UK, especially if I know the area in which the race is being held. Other than that, I'm happy to have "events" such as summer/winter Olympics or the recent Commonwealth Games on, but even then, there's little to hold my attention, other than the cycling :(

Rugby is one of the very few sports I don't mind watching, though I prefer Union to League. My son used to play, so we spent a lot of weekends travelling to various rugby festivals when he was young. I must admit I prefer watching from the comfort of my sofa, rather than standing outside in the cold!

It's one of those things that I wouldn't think "I must watch that", but if my husband watches I'll happily watch with him.

I think it's great that women's sports are actually being given some airtime now.

I watched England's opening game on Saturday ...... good fun, England scored loads of tries against Samoa who are amongst the best of the teans outside the main three

so far

England have beaten Samoa
Australia have beaten Fiji
Italy have beaten Scotland
Ireland have beaten Jamaica
New Zealand have beaten Lebanon

tonight it's France v Greece

Amazing how rugby league has spread around the world from the Lancashire and Yorkshire mill towns !

Just watched St Helens win the Rugby League World Club Challenge ...... it's the annual 'world championship' match betwen the English and Aussie champions which the Aussies usually win

They play the game alternately in England and Australia and this is only the 2nd time that the English champions have won when the game is played in Australia

Exciting finish as the scores were level at full and they went into extra time with 'first to score a point wins'

Now that I've cancelled Virgin cable and won't have much fotball to watch I'll probaly watch more Rugby League and Channel 4 have some some live matches alongside those on Sky
