Not that type of pointing LOL..
We have a 1930s semi and the brickwork on the base of the bay is looking a bit jaded and needs pointing.. I have watched videos and am sure I can do it myself as money is tight but the issue I have is how do you get the right colour.
I have established there is lime in the existing mortar but it is quite a dark colour and when I see houses that have been pointed recently it is quite light in colour which I imagine is a basic mix (get me).
Does anyone know what I need to do to get it to match???

I know You can get different dyes to add to mortar so it would depend on the colour already there, might need to decide on the colour then experiment with different ratios, here's some from everbuild https://www.everbuild.co.uk/product/208 ... rtar-tone/

That's great thanks.. I guess then I can do a test patch and then scrape it out if no good.. I get jobs that stick in my head and every time we drive up to the house I think it needs doing so at least this has got me going again..
