Something strange on Google search

Still happening and I've noticed that if you select "verbatim" in the Tools drop-down it goes away! I tried Bing and on there you get a greyed out bit above the searches, but not covering anything. Btw, it didn't show on the screen grab, but the blanked out bit looks like a scroll.

I'm still convinced it's something to do with the YouTube box, maybe it's having trouble scaling the preview which I believe is already a rescaled graphic - and looking again the bars at each end would I think match a failed scaling-up of that picture.

Not sure why this one and no others though but without going through the entire American political catalogue I'm not getting anyone else yet that gives that same picture box type layout of results.

edit, do you get the same for Benjamin Franklin or Rosa Parks? They get the box, though Franklin Roosevelt and Thomas jefferson don't.
(and here endeth the extent of my knowledge of that place beyond the sea)

It's the same for any person. I've tried Tennyson, George Clooney, Vlad the Impaler and, indeed, Rosa Parks! I have discovered, though, if you log out of your Google account it stops happening. Not sure about the Youtube thing, nothing like that on my screen.

Are you not seeing the one at the bottom right of the first box of results?
Benjamin Franklin's one in that spot is a 'regular' link to britannica and not YT so a search for him should appear OK regardless of login/logout.

Though if your results aren't in the same layout as mine then I'm in the wrong direction so ignore me

The "Verbatim" idea did though, so wondering if this can be left active. I don't need the image box top left on a search, as I only want to see images when I am searching for them!

Actually, I wasn't even aware of this before, and I must admit I like the idea of it. It always annoys me when Google searches randomly miss words out of my search and even that it allows me to be lazy and mistype something yet still find it

^^ Yes it bloody well is, @Dave - so annoying. I did discover that if you type , for example, " 2 George Clooney" you get the results without the annoying grey-out.
